In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Barrett Township Historical Society has scheduled
a series of programs for 2026. We hope you will join us as we honor our Patriots, observe our country’s accomplishments, and gather with
the rest of the nation to celebrate this milestone. Our events are listed on the calendar pages, detailed below, and are open to the public.

Held at the Barrett Area Recreation Complex (BARC), Cresco

AN AFTERNOON AT PARKSIDE CHAPEL
Route 191, Henryville Open to the Public
Join us for an afternoon of fellowship, patriotic songs & familiar hymns at Parkside Chapel. The chapel was built in 1893 as a place of worship for visitors staying at the nearby Park House Hotel and Henryville House. Parkside Chapel was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.

QUILTS OF THE REVOLUTIONARY PERIOD

The quilt shown above is the Saltonstall Quilt, circa 18th century, made from small silk triangles stretched over paper templates using a patchwork quilting technique called paper piecing. At the center of the quilt is an appliqued angel figure with outstretched arms and unfurled wings.
